Day 3 - this week sure is flying by.
Today's project is a little purse made using one of my favorite toys - the Big Shot. When assembled correctly, is perfect for holding 3 x3 note cards or it makes an adorable gift card holder. I have seen a few versions of this top note style purse floating around, but I think the original idea was created by Becky Roberts. I always love to visit Becky's blog and see what neat new thing she has come up with. So, here is my Jolly Holiday take on the purse along with some coordinating note cards.
For the purse:
2 - Very Vanilla Top Note die-cuts
2 - Jolly Holiday Top Note die-cuts (trim to the dash border line)
1 - Very Vanilla Scallop Circle die-cut
1 - Jolly Holiday circle piece ( I used the Circle Scissor Plus and cut at 3 3/4")
2 - Pewter Jumbo Eyelets (use Crop-a-dile and Ribbon on the lid/ scallop to create handle)
15" - Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon
1 - Very Vanilla piece cut at 5 1/2" x 6" for the box.
5 1/2" side - scor at 1", flip and score other side at 1".
6" side - scor at 2 1/2" and 3 1/2".
Assembly box/ purse with Sticky Tape.
When you put your purse together, don't forget to cut the tip off of the Top Note die-cuts so the lid will lay flat. Additionally, when you adhere the DSP to the Scallop Circle, I recommend using stick tape, as mine have come undone when only using snail adhesive. Then scor at 1 1/2" and 2 1/2". As you can see from the picture, the bottom point of the Top Note sides should come just slightly past the edge of the box (you will see just a bit of the bottom of the box) - this will allow the note cards and envelopes (4 of each) to fit comfortably. Use Velcro dots for the closure.
Note cards:
1 - 3" x 6" Old Olive, scor at 3"
1 - 2 7/8 x 2 7/8" Cherry Cobbler
1 - 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" Jolly Holiday DSP
1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon - Old Olive
For both purse and note cards, I stamped the Contempo Christmas ornament on Very Vanilla and used the Ornament Punch. I then used the Movers and Shapers set for the Big Shot. There is an ornament die included in the Holiday Windows set that is a perfect mat to be paired with the Ornament Punch. I then added the Rhinestones and popped up (on the cards) with Dimensionals.
This isn't a project you can get done in 10 minutes, but is well worth the time spent. Give it a try!:-)
Ciao for now!
